Asceticism
"Asceticism is a term that expresses the reduction of attachment to the world and the preference for the spiritual."
Spiritual & Deep Meaning
Asceticism, in Sufism, means that a person reduces their passion for worldly pleasures and directs themselves solely towards the pleasure of Allah. Asceticism requires distancing oneself from worldly pleasures and leading a meaningful life. This concept enables a believer to reduce their love for the world in their heart and increase their attachment to Allah. Asceticism is generally a fundamental principle adopted by those who progress on the path of Sufism. Asceticism does not only mean giving up wealth and property; it also means purifying oneself from the love of the world at the level of the heart and mind. In this context, asceticism is a quest to add spiritual depth and meaning in the true sense of the word.
