Teke

Teke is a place where the teachings of Sufism are practiced and spiritual education is given under the guidance of spiritual leaders. These places, where remembrance, prayer, and love are experienced, carry important elements of Sufi education. Tekes are also significant areas for ensuring social solidarity, cooperation, and community services. Tekes play a major role in the spiritual development of seekers, especially as places where Sufi rituals are performed. However, distinct differences in practices can be observed among tekes affiliated with different orders. Tekes, which hold an important place in the spiritual lives of Muslims, have gradually become centers for social and cultural activities as well.
