Shukr

"Shukr is the gratitude felt towards the blessings bestowed by Allah."

Spiritual & Deep Meaning

Shukr, as a form of worship in Islam, is the understanding of gratitude and thankfulness towards the blessings that Allah has provided to humanity. A servant must appreciate every blessing given to him and must never forget it. Shukr is also significant as a factor that strengthens social relationships; by showing gratitude to others, a person establishes a spiritual bond. Furthermore, being grateful ensures the spiritual well-being of the individual. In Sufism, a continuous understanding of shukr strengthens a person's connection with Allah and purifies the soul. Shukr is expected to be expressed not only verbally but also through the heart and actions; in this context, a person should thank Allah with good deeds and avoid sins.

Example / Wisdom Quote

"The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of shukr by saying, "Be grateful so that you may be shown gratitude.""
