Shirk
"Shirk is associating partners with Allah and taking deities other than Him."
Spiritual & Deep Meaning
Shirk is considered the greatest sin according to Islam. According to the belief of Muslims, taking any being other than Allah as a deity is contrary to Tawheed and is therefore very dangerous. Shirk can negatively affect an individual's spiritual life and may deprive a person of Paradise. From a Sufi perspective, Shirk expresses that the love and devotion in a person's heart should be directed solely towards Allah. Sufis aim to reach a higher spiritual rank by staying away from Shirk.
