In Islamic thought, patience means enduring, persevering, and being steadfast in the face of difficulties and hardships. In Sufi practices, patience is regarded as a virtue and is the key to attaining spiritual maturity. To be patient means to engage one's soul in remembrance, to strengthen it through prayer, and to turn to Allah with reliance in the face of challenges. Allah emphasizes the importance of patience in the Qur'an by stating, 'Give glad tidings to the patient.' Patience is considered a virtue that should be demonstrated not only in times of hardship but also in times of ease. Islam encourages patience and supports the spiritual development of individuals.
