Self
"Self is a concept that defines the inner world, ambitions, and desires of a person."
Spiritual & Deep Meaning
In Islam, the self is a concept that expresses a person's true essence, inner world, and spiritual dimension. There are various levels of the self; such as Nafs-i Ammarah, Nafs-i Lawwamah, and Nafs-i Mutmainnah. Nafs-i Ammarah refers to the self that inclines towards evil and desires; Nafs-i Lawwamah refers to the self that questions this state, and Nafs-i Mutmainnah refers to the self that has surrendered to Allah and found peace. In Sufism, training the self and mastering it is one of the most important elements of spiritual elevation. Controlling the self not only facilitates a person's spiritual development but also ensures societal peace.
