Shroud

The shroud holds an important place in Islamic belief and represents the deep meanings of Sufism. The shroud symbolizes that a person's existence is temporary and that they must prepare for the hereafter. In the Sufi tradition, the shroud has a simple and plain structure; thus, it signifies the individual's spiritual journey. For dervishes, the shroud symbolizes their journey after death. It is considered an important element of going to paradise and contemplating the afterlife. The shroud is a symbol of bidding farewell to worldly possessions and embarking on the path to the hereafter.
