Zuhd
"Zuhd is the attitude of disregarding worldly possessions and interests, and progressing on the path of the Hereafter."
Spiritual & Deep Meaning
Although zuhud can be understood as an attitude of 'mocking and belittling' worldly affairs, it has a deeper meaning. In Islam, zuhud refers to reducing one's attachment to the material world and directing more actions towards the Hereafter. In Sufism, the understanding of zuhud aims to increase love for Allah by staying away from the desires and wishes of the self. Zuhd symbolizes a kind of spiritual purification and self-discipline. True zuhud is the ability of a person to spiritually elevate themselves and to understand that blessings are, in fact, a test.
