Ta, Ha. We have not sent down the Qur'an to you to cause you distress, but as a reminder for those who fear Allah, and as a Book from the One who created the earth and the lofty heavens. The Most Merciful rules over the Throne. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, and whatever is between them and whatever is beneath the soil. If you speak aloud, then indeed He knows the secret and what is even more hidden. There is no deity except Allah; the most beautiful names belong to Him. Have the events of Moses reached you? When he saw a fire and said to his family, "Stay here; indeed, I have perceived a fire. Perhaps I can bring you a torch or find at the fire some guidance." And when he came to it, he was called, "O Moses! Indeed, I am your Lord; remove your sandals, for you are in the sacred valley of Tuwa. And I have chosen you; so listen to what is revealed. Indeed, I am Allah; there is no deity except Me. Worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance." The Hour is surely coming; I have kept it hidden so that every soul may be recompensed according to that for which it strives. "And let not one deter you from it who does not believe in it and follows his desire, lest you perish." "O Moses! What is that in your right hand?" He said, "It is my staff; I lean upon it, and I bring down leaves for my sheep with it, and I have therein other uses." Allah said, "Throw it down, O Moses!" So when he threw it down, it became a serpent, moving swiftly. Allah said, "Take it, and fear not; We will return it to its former condition. And put your hand into the opening of your garment; it will come out white without disease, another sign." Allah said, "Take it, and fear not; We will return it to its former condition. And put your hand into the opening of your garment; it will come out white without disease, another sign." Allah said, "Take it, and fear not; We will return it to its former condition. And put your hand into the opening of your garment; it will come out white without disease, another sign." "Go to Pharaoh; indeed, he has transgressed." Moses said, "My Lord, expand for me my breast and make my task easy for me, and untie the knot from my tongue that they may understand my speech. And appoint for me a minister from my family, Aaron, my brother. Increase through him my strength and let him share my task, that we may exalt You much and remember You much. Indeed, You are of us ever Seeing." Moses said, "My Lord, expand for me my breast and make my task easy for me, and untie the knot from my tongue that they may understand my speech. And appoint for me a minister from my family, Aaron, my brother. Increase through him my strength and let him share my task, that we may exalt You much and remember You much. Indeed, You are of us ever Seeing." Support me, and make him a minister for me from my family, so that we may glorify You more and remember You abundantly. Indeed, You are Seeing us," said Moses. Moses said, "My Lord! Expand my breast for me, make my task easy for me, and untie the knot from my tongue so that they may understand my speech. Appoint for me from my family my brother Aaron as a minister, support me with him, and make him a partner in my task so that we may glorify You more and remember You abundantly. Appoint for me from my family my brother Aaron as a minister, support me with him, and make him a partner in my task so that we may glorify You more and remember You abundantly. Indeed, You are Seeing us," said Moses. Allah said, "O Moses! What you have asked has been granted to you," He said, "And indeed, I have bestowed favor upon you another time when We inspired your mother with that which was to be inspired: 'Put Moses in a chest and cast it into the river; the river will throw it onto the shore, and an enemy to Me and to him will take him.' O Moses! I made you beloved in My sight so that you would be brought up under My watchful eye." Allah said, "O Moses! I made you beloved in My sight so that you would be brought up under My watchful eye." Your sister went to Pharaoh's household, saying, "Shall I point out to you someone who will take care of him?" Thus, We returned you to her so that she would not grieve, but rather rejoice. You had killed a soul, and We saved you from grief and tested you with many trials. For this reason, you remained among the people of Midian for many years. Then, O Moses, when you reached the age to bear the prophetic mission, you returned. I have set you apart for Myself. You and your brother go with My signs; do not slacken in remembering Me. Go to Pharaoh, indeed, he has transgressed. Speak to him with gentle words. Say, perhaps he will listen to the admonition or fear. Moses and his brother said, "Our Lord! We fear that he may harm us or that his transgression may increase." Allah said, "Do not fear; indeed, I am with you; I see and hear." Go to him and say, "Indeed, we are the messengers of your Lord. Send the Children of Israel with us and do not punish them; indeed, we have come to you with a sign from your Lord; peace be upon the one who follows the guidance! Indeed, it has been revealed to us that the one who denies and turns away will be punished." Allah said, "Do not fear; indeed, I am with you; I see and hear." Go to him and say, "Indeed, we are the messengers of your Lord. Send the Children of Israel with us and do not punish them; indeed, we have come to you with a sign from your Lord; peace be upon the one who follows the guidance! Indeed, it has been revealed to us that the one who denies and turns away will be punished." Pharaoh said, "Moses! Who is your Lord?" Moses said, "Our Lord is He who gives everything its distinct form, then guides it to the right path." Pharaoh said, "Then what about the condition of the previous generations?" Moses said, "Their knowledge is with my Lord; it is recorded. My Lord does not err nor forget." He is the one who spread the earth for you, made pathways in it, and sent down water from the sky. With it, we have produced various pairs of plants. Whether you eat from them or let your animals graze, there are indeed lessons for those who possess intellect. We created you from the earth, and we will return you to it, and we will bring you out again. Indeed, we showed Pharaoh all Our signs, but he denied and was obstinate and said, "O Moses! Have you come to drive us out of our land with your sorcery? Now we will show you a similar magic. Set a time between us and you, which we will not fail to meet in a level place." Indeed, we showed Pharaoh all Our signs, but he denied and was obstinate and said, "O Moses! Have you come to drive us out of our land with your sorcery? Now we will show you a similar magic. Set a time between us and you, which we will not fail to meet in a level place." Indeed, we showed Pharaoh all Our signs, but he denied and was obstinate and said, "O Moses! Have you come to drive us out of our land with your sorcery? Now we will show you a similar magic. Set a time between us and you, which we will not fail to meet in a level place." Moses said, "Our meeting time will be on the day of your festival, when the people gather at mid-morning." Pharaoh turned back, gathered his schemes, and came on that day. Moses said to them, "Woe to you! Do not fabricate lies against Allah, or He will annihilate you with punishment. Indeed, whoever fabricates lies will fail." The magicians debated among themselves and kept their conversation secret. Pointing to Moses and Aaron, they said, "These two magicians want to drive you out of your land with their magic and abolish your most exalted religion; so gather your schemes and come in a row. Today, whoever prevails will be successful." Pointing to Moses and Aaron, they said, "These two magicians want to drive you out of your land with their magic and abolish your most exalted religion; so gather your schemes and come in a row. Today, whoever prevails will be successful." "O Moses! Either you present your knowledge, or we shall present ours first," they said. Moses replied, "You present yours." Immediately, their staffs and ropes appeared to him as if they were moving because of their sorcery. Therefore, Moses felt a fear within him. We said, "Fear not, for indeed you are the most exalted." "Throw down what is in your right hand; it will swallow up what they have crafted. What they have crafted is only a magician's trick. And the magician will not succeed wherever he comes from." Eventually, the magicians said, "We have believed in the Lord of Moses and Aaron," and they fell in prostration. Pharaoh said, "Did you believe in him before I gave you permission? Indeed, he is your chief who has taught you magic. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet in opposite directions, and I will crucify you on the trunks of palm trees. You will surely know which of us is more severe in punishment and more lasting." The believing magicians said, "We will never prefer you over the clear signs that have come to us and over the One who created us. So decree whatever you will. You can only decree in this worldly life. Indeed, we have believed in our Lord that He may forgive us our sins and what you compelled us to do of magic. And Allah is better and more lasting." Indeed, those who come to their Lord as criminals will surely be in Hell, wherein they will neither die nor live. But those who come to their Lord as believers and having done righteous deeds, for them are the highest degrees, gardens of Eternity, beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. This is the reward of the purified. And We inspired Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued." Then Pharaoh sent among the cities, "Indeed, those are but a small band, and indeed, they have enraged us. And indeed, we are a cautious society." So We removed them from gardens and springs, and treasures and good dwellings. Thus it was, and We gave them to the Children of Israel. And We took the Children of Israel across the sea; then they came upon a people intent in devotion to their idols. They said, "O Moses, make for us a god just as they have gods." He said, "Indeed, you are a people behaving ignorantly. Indeed, those idol worshippers will be destroyed, and worthless is what they are doing." He said, "Is there any other than Allah that I should desire for you as a god while He has preferred you over the worlds?" And remember when We saved you from Pharaoh's people, who were inflicting upon you the worst torment, slaughtering your sons and keeping your women alive. And in that was a great trial from your Lord. And We made an appointment with Moses for thirty nights; then We completed them with ten. So the appointment of his Lord was completed as forty nights. And Moses said to his brother Aaron, "Take my place among my people and do good and do not follow the way of the corrupters." And when Moses had come at the appointed time and his Lord spoke to him, he asked, "O my Lord, show Yourself to me that I may look at You." Allah said, "You cannot bear to see Me, but look at the mountain; if it should remain firm in its place, then you will see Me." But when his Lord manifested His glory to the mountain, He made it collapse to dust, and Moses fell unconscious. And when he awoke, he said, "Exalted are You! To You I turn in repentance, and indeed, I am the first of the believers." Allah said, "O Moses, indeed I have chosen you over the people by My messages and by My speaking to you. So take what I have given you and be among the grateful." And We had certainly written for him on the tablets [of stone] admonitions and detailed matters concerning all things. "So hold them firmly and instruct your people to take the best of it. I will show you the home of the defiantly disobedient." I will turn away from My signs those who are arrogant upon the earth without right, and if they should see every sign, they will not believe in them; and if they see the way of righteousness, they will not adopt it as a way; but if they see a way of error, they will adopt it as a way. That is because they have denied Our signs and were heedless of them. And those who deny Our signs and the meeting of the Hereafter, their deeds have become worthless. Are they recompensed except for what they used to earn? And the people of Moses made after him from their ornaments a calf, an image having a lowing sound. Did they not see that it could neither speak to them nor guide them to a way? They took it, and they were wrongdoers. And when they regretted and saw that they had gone astray, they said, "If our Lord does not have mercy upon us and forgive us, we will surely be among the losers." And when Moses returned to his people, angry and grieved, he said, "O my people, did your Lord not make you a good promise? Did a long period of time pass over you, or did you wish for the wrath of your Lord, so you broke your promise to me?" They said, "We did not break our promise to you by our own accord, but we were made to carry the ornaments of the people, then we threw them into the fire, and thus did the Samiri throw." And he extracted for them a calf, an image that lowed. And they said, "This is your god and the god of Moses, but he forgot." Did they not see that it could not return to them a word, nor could it possess for them any harm or benefit? And Aaron had already said to them before, "O my people, you are being tested by it, and indeed, your Lord is the Most Merciful, so follow me and obey the command of my people." Your Lord is the Most Merciful. He said, "Follow me and obey my command." They said, "We will not cease to hold on to this until Moses returns to us." When Moses came, he said, "Aaron! What prevented you from following me when you saw them going astray? Did you disobey my command?" Aaron replied, "O son of my mother! Do not seize me by my hair or my beard; indeed, I feared that you would say, 'You have caused division among the Children of Israel,' and you would not heed my word." Moses said, "O Samiri! What is it that you have done?" Samiri said, "I saw what they did not see, so I took a handful from the messenger's footprint and cast it into the pot of their ornaments. Thus my soul prompted me." Moses said, "Be gone! Indeed, your punishment in this life will be, 'Do not touch me!' And indeed, you have a punishment that you will not escape. Look at your god that you have clung to; we will surely burn it and then scatter it into the sea." Your God is only Allah, there is no deity except Him. His knowledge encompasses all things. We relate to you the accounts of the past. We have also given you a Book from Us; whoever turns away from it will bear a burden on the Day of Resurrection. We relate to you the accounts of the past. We have also given you a Book from Us; whoever turns away from it will bear a burden on the Day of Resurrection. They will remain in the torment of this sin. How evil is this burden for them on the Day of Resurrection! The day the trumpet is blown, that day, we will gather the criminals, their eyes humbled in fear. They will speak among themselves, "You only stayed in the world for ten days." We know best what they say. The most intelligent among them will say, "You only stayed for a day." They will ask you about the mountains; say, "My Lord will obliterate them and scatter them as dust, and He will leave it as a level plain where you will see no curve or elevation." On that day, they will follow the caller without deviating to any side. The voices will be subdued before the Most Merciful, and you will not hear except a whisper. They will ask you about the mountains; say, "My Lord will obliterate them and scatter them as dust, and He will leave it as a level plain where you will see no curve or elevation." On that day, they will follow the caller without deviating to any side. The voices will be subdued before the Most Merciful, and you will not hear except a whisper. On that day, no intercession will benefit except for whom the Most Merciful has given permission and whose word He is pleased with. Allah knows their past and their future. They encompass none of His knowledge. People have submitted to Allah, who is ever-living and constantly observing His creation. The one burdened with oppression has certainly failed. The one who believes and does righteous deeds will not fear injustice or the deprivation of their rights. Indeed, We have sent down the Qur'an in Arabic so that perhaps they may be mindful, and We have explained the warnings in various ways. Truly, Allah is the Exalted Sovereign. When the Qur'an is revealed to you, do not hasten to memorize it before its revelation is completed, and do not forget. "My Lord! Increase my knowledge," say. And indeed, We had previously said, "Prostrate to Adam," and all except Iblis prostrated; he was reluctant. "O Adam! Indeed, this is your and your wife's enemy. Let him not expel you from Paradise, or you will be among the losers. Indeed, in Paradise, you will neither go hungry nor be naked; there you will neither thirst nor be exposed to the heat of the sun," We said. "O Adam! Indeed, this is your and your wife's enemy. Let him not expel you from Paradise, or you will be among the losers. Indeed, in Paradise, you will neither go hungry nor be naked; there you will neither thirst nor be exposed to the heat of the sun," We said. But Satan whispered to him, saying, "O Adam! Shall I direct you to the tree of eternity and to a kingdom that will never decay?" So they both ate from that tree, and their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to cover themselves with the leaves of Paradise. Adam disobeyed his Lord and erred. Yet his Lord chose him and accepted his repentance and guided him. He said, "Descend, all of you, as enemies to one another. And surely, there will come to you guidance from Me; and whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray nor be miserable." And whoever turns away from My remembrance, indeed, he will have a narrow life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind." He will say, "My Lord, why have You raised me blind while I was [once] seeing?" Allah will say, "Thus did Our signs come to you, and you forgot them; and thus will you be forgotten today." And thus do We recompense he who transgresses and does not believe in the signs of his Lord. And the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe and more eternal. Did they not travel through the land and see how was the end of those before them? Indeed, there are signs in that for those of understanding. And if it had not been for a word that had preceded from your Lord and a specified term, they would have been hastened for them. So be patient over what they say; and exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting, and during part of the night and at the ends of the day, that you may be pleased. And do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to some of them, nor grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believers who follow you. And say, "Indeed, I am only a clear warner." And I do not ask you for it any reward. My reward is only from the Lord of the worlds. And they say, "Why has a miracle not been sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, "Indeed, the former scriptures have already come with clear proofs and written evidence. And if they had been destroyed before them, they would have said, 'Our Lord, if only You had sent us a messenger, we would have followed Your signs before we were humiliated and disgraced.'" Say, "Each of us is awaiting; so wait. For surely, you will know who are the companions of the straight path and who is guided."
