Ha, Mim. 'Ayn, Sīn, Qāf. The All-Powerful, the All-Wise Allah reveals to you as He has revealed to those before you. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. He is the Most Exalted, the Most Great. The heavens are almost torn apart from above them. The angels glorify and praise their Lord and seek forgiveness for those on earth. Indeed, Allah is the Forgiving, the Merciful. Allah observes the deeds of those who take allies besides Him. You are not appointed as their guardian. Thus, We have revealed to you an Arabic Book to warn the mother of cities, Mecca, and those around it, of the Day of Gathering, about which there is no doubt. A group of people will enter Paradise, and a group will enter the blazing Fire. If He had willed, He would have made them one nation. But He admits whom He wills into His mercy, and the wrongdoers will have no protector or helper. So, have they taken allies besides Allah? But the only ally is Allah. He brings the dead to life. He has power over all things. The judgment of anything over which you disagree is for Allah; "This is Allah, my Lord. In Him I put my trust and to Him I turn." (It should be said.) The Creator of the heavens and the earth has made for you mates from among yourselves and pairs of animals. Thus, He causes you to multiply. There is nothing like Him. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing. The keys of the heavens and the earth belong to Him. He extends provision to whom He wills and restricts it; He measures it. Indeed, He is All-Knowing of all things. Allah has enjoined upon you the same as He enjoined upon Noah, and what We have revealed to you; and what We enjoined upon Abraham, Moses, and Jesus: "Establish the religion and do not divide therein." The call to polytheism is great in their eyes. Allah chooses whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back to Him. Their division after knowledge had come to them was only due to envy among themselves. If it had not been for a predetermined decree from your Lord, it would have been judged between them immediately. And those who inherited the Scripture after them are in doubt about it, full of uncertainty. So invite to the unity and be steadfast as you are commanded; do not follow their desires and say: "I believe in the Book that Allah has revealed; I am commanded to judge among you with justice. Allah is our Lord and your Lord; for us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. There is no argument between us and you. Allah will gather us all together, and to Him is the final destination." And whoever responds to Allah's call after they have been wronged, their evidence is invalid before their Lord. For them is a great wrath, and a severe punishment awaits them. Indeed, it is Allah who has sent down the Book and the Balance. And what can make you know? Perhaps the Hour is near. Those who do not believe in it are hastening it; while those who believe are in awe of it and know it is the truth. Indeed, those who dispute concerning the Hour are in extreme error. Allah is the Bestower upon His servants. He provides for whom He wills. The All-Strong, the All-Mighty is He. We increase the reward of those who seek the Hereafter; and We give them of this world who desires it; but they will have no share in the Hereafter. Or do they have partners who have made lawful for them what Allah has forbidden? If it were not for the decisive word, it would have been judged between them immediately. Indeed, for the wrongdoers is a painful punishment. You will see the wrongdoers, when they are confronted with what they have earned, trembling in fear. But those who believe and do righteous deeds will be in gardens of Paradise. They will have whatever they wish with their Lord. This is a great favor. Allah gives glad tidings to His servants who believe and do good deeds. Say: "I do not ask you for any reward for this except for love for my near relatives (or for drawing closer to Allah)." Whoever does a good deed, We will increase its beauty for him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving, Rewarding. Or do they say, "He has attributed falsehood to Allah"? If Allah wills, He can seal your heart, and He can eradicate falsehood and establish the truth with His words. Indeed, He is All-Knowing of what is in the hearts. He is the One who accepts the repentance of His servants, forgives sins, knows what you do, accepts the supplication of those who believe and do good deeds, and increases their reward by His grace. But for the disbelievers, there is a severe punishment. If Allah had given abundant provision to all His servants, they would have transgressed in the earth. But He sends down in due measure as He wills. Indeed, He is All-Aware of His servants, All-Seer. He is the One who sends down rain after their despair and spreads His mercy. He is the Worthy of Praise and the Friend. The creation of the heavens, the earth, and all the creatures He has spread therein is evidence of His existence. Any calamity that befalls you is due to what your own hands have earned. Yet He forgives most. You cannot incapacitate Him on earth. You have no protector or helper besides Allah. The movement of ships in the sea like towering mountains is evidence of His existence. If He wills, He can still the wind, and then the ships would remain motionless on the surface of the sea. In these, there are signs for those who are patient and grateful. Or He may remove them in return for what they have done, and forgive many. Those who dispute Our verses should know that they have no place to escape. Whatever you have been given is merely a provision for the worldly life. What is with Allah is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord, who shun great sins and indecencies, who forgive even when they are angry, who respond to their Lord's call, and who establish prayer. Their affairs are by consultation among themselves. And from what We have provided them, they spend. Whatever you have been given is merely a provision for the worldly life. The recompense for an evil deed is an evil deed like it. But whoever forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is with Allah. Indeed, He does not like the wrongdoers. There is no blame upon those who defend their rights after having been wronged. Those who wrong people and transgress in the earth without right should be stopped. Indeed, for them is a painful punishment. But the work of those who are patient and forgive is indeed worthy of determination. Among the deeds. Whomever Allah leads astray, there will be no friend for him thereafter. When they see the punishment, you will see the wrongdoers saying, "Is there no way to return?" They will be humbled, their heads bowed low, glancing furtively around, while they are presented to the Fire. The believers will say, "Indeed, those who are in loss on the Day of Resurrection are those who have deprived themselves and their families of salvation." Know well that the wrongdoers are in constant torment. They have no allies to help them besides Allah. There is no escape for those whom Allah has led astray. Respond to your Lord's call before the day comes from Allah, which cannot be turned back. On that day, none of you will find a refuge, nor can you deny. If they turn away, let them know that We have not sent you as a guardian over them; your duty is only to convey the message. Indeed, when We let man taste a mercy from Us, he rejoices; but when an evil befalls him because of what his hands have earned, then man becomes truly ungrateful. The dominion of the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah. He creates whatever He wills; He grants daughters to whom He wills and sons to whom He wills. Or He grants both daughters and sons, and He makes whom He wills barren. He is All-Knowing, All-Powerful. Allah speaks to a man only through revelation or from behind a veil, or He sends a messenger; by His permission, He reveals to whom He wills. Indeed, He is Exalted, Wise. And We have sent you, by Our command, Gabriel; you did not know what the Book was, nor what faith was before, but We made it a light by which We guide whom We will of Our servants. Certainly, you are guiding people to the path of Allah, the One to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth, the straight path. Know well that all matters ultimately return to Allah.
