Ahkâf

"Surah Al-Ahqaf is the 46th chapter of the Holy Qur'an and is one of the revelations sent down to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This surah emphasizes the essence of Islam and the necessity for believers to exhibit patience and reliance on Allah in the face of challenges. The term 'Ahqaf' means 'sand dunes', and the profound wisdom contained within this surah illuminates our lives. Reciting this surah serves as a significant gift, especially during difficult times and moments of distress, bringing solace to our souls. Each time it is recited, it grants the believer spiritual tranquility and strength. The virtue of Surah Al-Ahqaf allows us to purify our hearts and draw closer to Allah through its recitation."

Ha, Mim. This Book has been revealed by Allah, the Mighty, the Wise. We created the heavens, the earth, and all that is between them in truth and for an appointed term; yet those who disbelieve turn away from what they have been warned. Say: "Do you see what you invoke besides Allah? Show me what they have created on the earth! Or do they have a partnership in the heavens? Bring me a Book that has been revealed to me or any remnant of knowledge if you are truthful." Who is more misguided than one who invokes besides Allah things that cannot respond to him until the Day of Resurrection? And they are unaware of their invocation. But when the people are gathered on the Day of Resurrection, their idols will become enemies to them and will deny their worship. When Our verses are recited to the disbelievers, they say, "This is a manifest magic." Or they say, "He has fabricated it." Say: "If I have fabricated it, you cannot protect me from Allah. He knows best what you are engaged in. Sufficient is He as a witness between me and you. And He is the Forgiving, the Merciful." Say: "I am not the first of the messengers; nor do I know what will happen to me or to you. I only follow what is revealed to me, and I am only a clear warner." Say: "If this Book is from Allah and you have disbelieved in it, and a witness from the Children of Israel has testified to its similarity and has believed, while you are arrogant, tell me, have you wronged yourselves?" Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. The disbelievers say to the believers, "If there were any good in Islam, they would not have preceded us to it." And since they do not guide themselves, they say, "This is an ancient fabrication." Before it, the Book of Moses was a guide and a mercy. And this Book is a confirmation of what was before it, revealed in the Arabic language, to warn those who do wrong and to give good tidings to the doers of good. Indeed, those who say, "Our Lord is Allah," and then remain steadfast, there will be no fear upon them, nor will they grieve. It is they who are the companions of Paradise, abiding therein as a reward for what they used to do. And We have enjoined upon man, [care] for his parents. But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do. And We have enjoined upon man, [care] for his parents. But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do. And when he reaches maturity and reaches [the age of] forty years, he says, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to work righteousness of which You will approve and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am of the Muslims." Those are the ones from whom We will accept the best of what they did and overlook their misdeeds; they will be among the companions of Paradise. This is the true promise. And he who says to his parents, "O woe to you! Do you promise me that I will be brought forth again after death?" while they invoke Allah for help, [saying], "Woe to you! Believe; indeed, the promise of Allah is truth." But he says, "This is not but legends of the former peoples." Those are the ones upon whom the word of punishment has come into effect among the former jinn and mankind. Indeed, they are the losers. Let it be! Believe; indeed, the word of Allah is true," they said: "This is nothing but the tales of those before us." Those are the ones among the nations that have passed before them, both jinn and humans, against whom the promise of Allah's punishment has been fulfilled. Indeed, they are the ones who are in loss. For what they have done, everyone has a degree. Everyone will be compensated for what they have done, and they will not be wronged. On the day when the disbelievers are presented to the Fire, it will be said to them: "You spent the good things in your worldly life and enjoyed them; but today, as a consequence of your arrogance on earth without right and your deviation, you will see a humiliating punishment." Remember Hud, the brother of the people of 'Ad; many warners came before and after him saying, "Do not worship anyone but Allah." He warned his people in the region of Ahkaf, saying, "Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of the great Day." They said, "Have you come to us to turn us away from our gods? If you are among the truthful, bring upon us what you threaten us with." He said, "Indeed, Allah knows when it will come; I am only conveying to you what I have been sent with; but I see that you are a people who are ignorant." When they saw the punishment spreading towards their valleys, they said, "This widespread cloud will bring us rain." Hud said, "No, it is that which you were hastening; it is a wind that brings painful punishment; it destroys everything by the command of your Lord." Then nothing was seen of their houses except for their ruins. Thus do We punish the guilty people. When they saw the punishment spreading towards their valleys, they said, "This widespread cloud will bring us rain." Hud said, "No, it is that which you were hastening; it is a wind that brings painful punishment; it destroys everything by the command of your Lord." Then nothing was seen of their houses except for their ruins. Thus do We punish the guilty people. And indeed, We had given them wealth and resources that We did not give you. We had given them ears, eyes, and hearts; but their ears, eyes, and hearts did not benefit them, for they were disbelieving in the signs of Allah, and what they used to mock surrounded them and destroyed them. And indeed, We have destroyed many cities around you. Perhaps they would return to the right path, so We have explained the signs in various ways. At that time, should not the gods they had taken besides Allah to seek closeness to Him have helped them? But their gods were distant from them. This is their falsehood and what they have fabricated. We had directed a group of jinn to you who would listen to the Qur'an. When they were ready to listen to the Qur'an, they said to one another, "Be silent." When the recitation of the Qur'an was finished, each of them returned to their people as a warner. They said, "O our people! Indeed, we have listened to a book that was revealed after Musa, confirming what was before it, guiding to the truth and the straight path." "O our people! Follow the one who calls to Allah (Muhammad) and believe in him so that Allah may forgive you your sins and protect you from a painful punishment." Let whoever does not respond to the caller to Allah know that he cannot cause Allah to be unable on earth; and they will have no protector besides Him; indeed, they are in clear error. Do they not see that Allah, who created the heavens and the earth and is not weary of creating them, is also capable of resurrecting the dead? Yes, He is indeed capable of all things. On the day when the disbelievers are presented to the Fire, it will be said to them: "Was this not the truth?" They will say, "By our Lord, indeed it was the truth." They say, Allah says: "Taste the punishment for your disbelief." Be patient as those of resolute determination among the messengers were patient; do not be in haste for the disbelievers; on the day they see what has been promised to them, they will think they had only enjoyed a brief moment in the world. This is a warning; is there anyone other than the astray who will be destroyed?
