All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all that is in the heavens and the earth. He is the All-Wise, All-Aware. He knows what enters the earth and what emerges from it, what descends from the heavens and what ascends to it. He is the Most Merciful, the All-Forgiving. The disbelievers said, "The Hour will never come to us." Say, "No, indeed; by my Lord who knows the unseen, it will surely come to you." Not even an atom's weight in the heavens or the earth is hidden from Him. Even smaller and greater than that is certainly in a Clear Book. The Hour will come so that Allah may recompense those who have believed and done righteous deeds; for them there is forgiveness and a generous provision. And as for those who compete to invalidate Our signs, for them is a torment that is ignoble and painful. Those who have been given knowledge know that what has been revealed to you from your Lord is the truth and that it guides to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy. The disbelievers say to the believers, "Shall we show you a man who informs you that when you have become disintegrated particles, you will be resurrected in a new creation? Is he inventing a lie about Allah, or is there madness in him?" No; rather, those who do not believe in the Hereafter are in torment and are in extreme error. Do they not see the heaven and the earth before them and behind them? If We willed, We could cause the earth to swallow them or drop a piece of the heaven upon them. Indeed, in that are signs for every servant who turns back [to Allah]. "O mountains and birds! Repeat the glorification with David," and We granted him a favor from Us; "Make large coats of armor and measure well the links," and We softened for him iron. "Do good deeds; indeed, I see what you do." When the wind blew by day, it traveled a month's distance, and at evening, We subjected to him a wind that traveled a month's distance. We poured out for him molten copper, by the permission of his Lord, and We subjected to him the jinn, working in front of him. And if any of them turned away from Our command, We would make him taste the punishment of the Blaze. For Solomon, they made whatever he wished of sanctuaries, idols, large basins like reservoirs, and cauldrons that were fixed in their place. "O family of David, work in gratitude!" But few of My servants are grateful. When We decreed death for Solomon, nothing indicated to the jinn his death except a creature of the earth that devoured his staff. And when he fell, it became clear to the jinn that if they had known the unseen, they would not have remained in a humiliating punishment. In the dwellings of Sheba, there was indeed a sign: two gardens, one on the right and one on the left. "Eat from the provision of your Lord and be grateful to Him. A good land and a Forgiving Lord," it was said to them. But they turned away, so We sent upon them the flood of the dam, and We made their two gardens into two gardens producing bitter fruit and a few bushes. We turned them into two gardens with cedar trees. Thus, We punished them for their disbelief. Do We punish anyone but the ungrateful? Between them and the blessed cities that We had made, We established towns visible across from each other, and We said, "Travel securely therein by night and by day." But they said, "Our Lord! Make the distances of our journeys longer," and they wronged themselves. So We made them mere tales, and We scattered them. Indeed, in this are signs for those who are very patient and grateful. Indeed, Iblis had proven true his assumption about them; they all followed him except for a group of believers. And Iblis had no authority over them; but We distinguish between those who believe in the Hereafter and those who are in doubt about it. Your Lord is All-Watchful. Say, "Call upon those you claim are partners with Allah; they possess not even an atom's weight in the heavens or the earth, nor do they have any share in either, and none of them is a helper to Allah." No intercession will be of any benefit except for one to whom the Most Merciful has given permission and whose word He is pleased with. And when fear is removed from their hearts, they will ask one another, "What did your Lord say?" They will reply, "The truth." He is the Most High, the Most Great. Say, "Who provides for you from the heavens and the earth?" Say, "Allah." So either we or you are truly guided or in clear error. Say, "You will not be asked about what we committed, nor will we be asked about what you do." Say, "Our Lord will gather us all together, then He will judge between us in truth. And He is the All-Knowing Judge." Say, "Show me those whom you have claimed as partners with Him. No! He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise." We have only sent you as a bearer of good tidings and a warner to all mankind, but most of the people do not know. They say, "If you are among the truthful, when is this promise?" Say, "A day has been appointed for you, which you cannot delay by an hour nor hasten." And those who disbelieved said, "We will not believe in this Qur'an or in that which came before it." And if you could see when the wrongdoers are made to stand before their Lord, and they exchange blame with one another! The weak will say to those who were arrogant, "If it had not been for you, we would have been believers." Those who were arrogant will say to the weak, "Was it we who kept you from guidance after it had come to you? Rather, you were criminals." And the weak will say to those who were arrogant, "No, it was night and day that you were scheming against us, and you were commanding us to disbelieve in Allah and to associate with Him that of which we had no knowledge." And when they see the punishment, their faces will be filled with despair. And We will put shackles on the necks of those who disbelieved. Will they be recompensed except for what they used to do? Indeed, the elite of every city to which We sent a warner said, "Indeed, we, in that which you were sent with, are disbelievers." And they said, "We have more wealth and children, and we will not be punished." Say, "Indeed, my Lord extends provision for whom He wills and restricts it; but most of the people do not know." O mankind! Your wealth and your children will not bring you near to Me; only those who believe and do righteous deeds will have multiplied rewards, and they are the ones who will be in secure positions. And those who strive to nullify Our verses will be brought to the punishment. Say, "Indeed, my Lord extends provision for whom He wills and restricts it." "According to measure, He provides; He replaces whatever you spend with something better, for He is the best of providers." Allah will resurrect and gather them all on a day, then He will say to the angels, "Were these the ones you worshipped?" The angels will respond, "Far from it, they are not our allies; You are. No; they were worshipping the jinn, most of them believed in them." To the wrongdoers, We will say, "Taste the punishment of the fire which you denied; today, you can neither benefit nor harm one another." When Our verses were recited to them clearly, they would say, "This man only seeks to turn you away from what your forefathers worshipped." They would say, "This Qur'an is nothing but a fabrication." When the truth came to the disbelievers, they said, "This is clearly magic." Yet We had not given them a book to read, nor had We sent before you a warner. They had denied those who came before them; yet these have not attained even a tenth of what We had given them. Despite this, they denied Our messengers; how could I deny? Say: "I have but one advice for you: Stand for Allah, two by two or individually, then reflect; you will see that your companion is not mad. He is only warning you before a severe punishment." Say: "If I ask you for a reward, it is yours; my reward is with Allah. He is Witness over all things." Say: "My Lord knows best the unseen; He eradicates falsehood with truth." Say: "Truth has come; falsehood neither begins anew nor returns." Say: "If I go astray, I go astray only to my own detriment. If I am guided, it is by what my Lord has revealed to me. Indeed, He is All-Hearing, Near." If you could see them when they are in fear; there is no escape, they are caught near Hell. Then they will say, "We believe in Allah," but how can they easily attain faith from a distant place like the Hereafter? If you could see them when they are in fear; there is no escape, they are caught near Hell. Then they will say, "We believe in Allah," but how can they easily attain faith from a distant place like the Hereafter? Yet they had previously denied it, and they had mocked the unseen from a distant place, the world. A barrier will be placed between them and what they desire; indeed, the same was done to those who were like them before. For they were in doubt and anxiety.
