Alif, Lam, Meem. These are the verses of the Wise Book, a guidance and mercy for those who do good. They establish prayer and give zakat; and they have firm faith in the Hereafter. Indeed, they are on the right path of their Lord, and it is they who will attain happiness. Among the people are those who, without knowledge, argue about Allah's path to mislead others, and mock the path of Allah. For them is a humiliating punishment. When Our verses are recited to the misguided, they turn away arrogantly as if they do not hear, as if there is heaviness in their ears. Give them the tidings of a painful punishment. For those who believe and do righteous deeds, there are gardens of paradise, wherein they will abide forever, as promised by Allah. He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. Allah has created the heavens without any pillars that you can see, and He has placed firm mountains on the earth so that it does not shake with you; and He has spread therein every kind of living creature. And We send down water from the sky and produce therein fruits of every good kind. This is the creation of Allah. Show me what others have created besides Him. No; they cannot show. The wrongdoers are in clear error. We certainly gave Luqman wisdom, saying, 'Give thanks to Allah.' And whoever gives thanks, he only gives thanks for the benefit of his own soul. And whoever is ungrateful, then indeed, Allah is Free of need, Praiseworthy. Luqman said to his son while advising him, 'O my son! Do not associate anything with Allah; indeed, associating with Him is a great injustice.' And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship, and his gestation and weaning [period] is thirty months. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination. And if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To them is your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do. O my son! Indeed, if there is a weight of a mustard seed and it is within a rock or in the heavens or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth. Indeed, Allah is Subtle and Acquainted. O my son! Establish prayer, enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you. Indeed, these are the matters [requiring] determination. And do not turn your cheek [in contempt] toward people and do not walk through the earth exultantly. Indeed, Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful. And be moderate in your pace and lower your voice; indeed, the most disagreeable of sounds is the braying of donkeys. Do you not see that Allah has subjected to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and has bestowed upon you His favors, both apparent and concealed? And among the people are those who argue about Allah without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening Book. And when it is said to them, 'Follow what Allah has revealed,' you see them turning away from you in aversion. So, what if disaster strikes them for what their hands have earned and then they come to you swearing by Allah, 'We intended nothing but good conduct and accommodation.' Those are the ones of whom Allah knows what is in their hearts, so turn away from them but admonish them and speak to them a far-reaching word. And We did not send any messenger except to be obeyed by permission of his Lord. And if, when they wronged themselves, they had come to you, O Muhammad, and asked forgiveness of Allah, and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Accepting of repentance and Merciful. But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you, [O Muhammad], judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in [full, willing] submission. And if We had decreed upon them, 'Kill yourselves' or 'Leave your homes,' they would not have done it, except for a few of them. But if they had done what they were instructed, it would have been better for them and a firmer position. Then We would have given them from Us a great reward. And We would have guided them to a straight path. And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger - those will be with the ones upon whom Allah has bestowed favor of the prophets, the steadfast, the martyrs, and the righteous. And excellent are those as companions. That is the bounty from Allah, and sufficient is Allah as Knower. O you who have believed, take your precaution and [either] go forth in companies or go forth all together. And indeed, among you is he who lags behind. And if an affliction should strike you, it has certainly struck the people. And We have sent you, O Muhammad, to be a witness and a bringer of good tidings and a warner. And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. And Allah is sufficient as Defender. If He should aid you, no one can overcome you; but if He should forsake you, who can aid you after Him? And upon Allah let the believers rely.
