Ha, Mim. This Book has been revealed from Allah, the Most Merciful; it has been recited in Arabic, with its verses explained in detail, as good news and a warning for a people who know. But most of the people have turned away; they do not hear: "Our hearts are veiled against what you invite us to, and there is heaviness in our ears, and between us and you is a barrier; so do as you will, and we will do as we will." This Book has been revealed from Allah, the Most Merciful; it has been recited in Arabic, with its verses explained in detail, as good news and a warning for a people who know. But most of the people have turned away; they do not hear: "Our hearts are veiled against what you invite us to, and there is heaviness in our ears, and between us and you is a barrier; so do as you will, and we will do as we will." Say to them: "I am only a human like you. It has been revealed to me that your god is one God. So turn to Him and seek forgiveness from Him; woe to those who associate partners with Him!" They do not give zakat; and those who deny the Hereafter are the only ones. Indeed, for those who believe and do righteous deeds, there will be an uninterrupted reward. "Do you deny the One who created the earth in two days and set upon it firm mountains, and made it fruitful? He has decreed its sustenance in four days for those who ask. Then He directed Himself to the heaven, while it was smoke, and said to it and to the earth: 'Come willingly or unwillingly.' They said: 'We come willingly.' Thus He completed them as seven heavens in two days and assigned to each heaven its task. We adorned the nearest heaven with lamps and protected it from every rebellious devil. This is the decree of Allah, the All-Knowing, the All-Strong. If they turn away, then say: 'I have warned you of a thunderous punishment like that which struck the people of 'Aad and Thamud.' Messengers came to them from before them and from behind them, saying: 'Do not worship except Allah.' They said: 'If our Lord had willed, He would have sent down angels. Indeed, we, in that with which you have been sent, are disbelievers.' The people of 'Aad were arrogant in the land without right, saying: 'Who is stronger than us?' Did they not see that Allah, who created them, was stronger than them? And they were denying Our signs. So We sent upon them a screaming wind on cursed days, to make them taste the punishment of disgrace in this worldly life. But the punishment of the Hereafter is more disgraceful, and they will not be aided. And We had certainly guided the Thamud, but they preferred blindness to guidance. So the thunderous punishment of disgrace seized them for what they had earned. And We saved those who believed and were fearing Allah. The enemies of Allah will be driven to Hell on that Day, all together. And when they arrive there, their hearing, their sight, and their skins will testify against them as to what they used to do. And they will say to their skins: 'Why have you testified against us?' They will say: 'We were made to speak by Allah, who has made everything speak. And He is the one who created you the first time, and to Him you are returned.' And you did not cover yourselves for fear that your hearing, your sight, and your skins would testify against you; but you thought that Allah did not know much of what you were doing. And that thought of yours which you thought about your Lord has brought you to destruction, and you have become among the losers. Whether they remain patient or not, their refuge will be the Fire. And We will make them taste from above them a canopy of fire, and beneath them a canopy. And if they call for relief, they will be relieved with water like molten copper, which scalds their faces. Wretched is the drink, and evil is the resting place. Indeed, those who believed and did righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide eternally. Allah's promise is truth, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
