Ha, Meem. I swear by the Clear Book, that We have made the Qur'an an Arabic recited Book so that you may reflect. Indeed, it is with Us in the Mother of the Book, exalted and full of wisdom. O disbelievers! Shall We cease to warn you with the Qur'an because you are transgressors? We have sent many prophets to those before them, and whenever a prophet came to them, they would certainly ridicule him. Therefore, We destroyed those who were stronger than them. Many examples have passed before them. And if you were to ask them, "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "The Mighty, the All-Knowing created them." He has made the earth a cradle for you and has created pathways in it so that you may be guided. He sends down water from the sky in due measure, and with it, We revive a dead land. Thus, you will be resurrected. He is the Creator of every kind of being. He has created for you mounts and animals to ride. All of this is so that when you are seated upon them, you may remember the favor of your Lord and say, "Glory be to Him who has subjected these to us; otherwise, we would not have been able to do so; and surely, we will return to our Lord." He is the Creator of every kind of being. He has created for you mounts and animals to ride. All of this is so that when you are seated upon them, you may remember the favor of your Lord and say, "Glory be to Him who has subjected these to us; otherwise, we would not have been able to do so; and surely, we will return to our Lord." But the disbelievers attributed children to Him. Indeed, man is truly ungrateful. Does He choose daughters from among His creations and give you sons? But when the Most Merciful Allah is attributed a daughter, one of them is filled with rage and his face becomes dark. Do they attribute to Allah what they themselves dislike? They have made the angels, who are the servants of the Most Merciful, female. Have they witnessed their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned. "If the Most Merciful had willed, we would not have worshipped them," they say. They have no knowledge of this; they are only conjecturing. Or have We given them a Book before this, to which they hold fast? No; they say, "Indeed, we found our forefathers upon a religion, and we are following in their footsteps." Before you, We sent a warner to any city, and the indulgent beings only said, "Indeed, we found our forefathers upon a religion, and we are following in their footsteps." The warner said, "What if I bring you something better than what you found your forefathers upon?" They said, "Indeed, we deny what you were sent with." Therefore, We took retribution from them. Consider how was the end of the liars! Ibrahim said to his father and his people, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you worship, except for Him who created me; indeed, He will guide me." Ibrahim left this statement as a lasting legacy for those who would come after him, perhaps they would return to the right path. No; I provided for them and their forefathers until the truth came to them, and a clear messenger. When the truth came to them, they said, "This is magic, and indeed, we deny it." They said, "Why was this Qur'an not sent down upon a great man from one of the two cities?" Is it you who divide the mercy of your Lord? We have apportioned their livelihood among them in this world, and We have raised some of them above others in degrees, so that some of them may employ others. And the mercy of your Lord is better than what they accumulate. If all of mankind were not to become one community, We would have made for those who disbelieve in the Most Merciful, roofs of silver for their houses, and stairways by which they ascend, and doors to their houses, and couches upon which they recline, adorned with gold. But all of this is only the enjoyment of the worldly life. The Hereafter is for those who fear their Lord. Indeed, We assign a devil to those who turn away from the remembrance of the Most Merciful. Indeed, they divert them from the truth, while they think they are guided. So when they come to Us, they will say to their companions, "Would that there were between me and you the distance of the east and the west!" What a terrible companion! Today, regret will not benefit you, for you have wronged, and now you share in the punishment. So when they come to Us, they will say to their companions, "Would that there were between me and you the distance of the east and the west!" What a terrible companion! Today, regret will not benefit you, for you have wronged, and now you share in the punishment. Will you make the deaf hear? Or will you guide the blind and those who are in clear error? Even if We were to turn you away from them, indeed, We would take retribution from them, or We would show you what We promised them. Indeed, We have power over them. Hold fast to what has been revealed to you; indeed, you are upon the straight path. Indeed, this Qur'an is a reminder for you and your people, and you will be questioned. Ask those of Our messengers whom We sent before you: Did We make any gods to be worshipped besides the Most Merciful? And We certainly sent Musa with Our signs to Fir'aun and his nobles, and he said, "Indeed, I am the messenger of the Lord of the worlds." But when he brought them Our signs, they laughed at them. Each time We showed them a sign, it was greater than the one before it; and We afflicted them with punishment so that they might return. They said, "O magician! Invoke your Lord for us by what He has promised you; indeed, we will be guided." But when We removed the punishment from them, they immediately broke their word. Fir'aun said to his people, "O my people! Is not the kingdom of Egypt mine, and these rivers flowing beneath me? Do you not see?" "Or am I not better than this one who is insignificant and can hardly express himself?" "Why has he not been given bracelets of gold, or angels come with him?" Fir'aun belittled his people, and they obeyed him; indeed, they were a disobedient people. So when they angered Us, We took retribution from them and drowned them all. We made them a lesson for those who would come after them. When the example of the son of Maryam was presented, your people laughed and mocked. They said, "Is our god better or he?" They only say this to argue with you. Indeed, they are a quarrelsome people. The son of Maryam was only a servant whom We bestowed favor upon and made an example for the Children of Israel. If We had willed, We could have made angels in your place to succeed you on earth. He is the one who announces the coming of the Hour; there is no doubt about its coming. Follow Me; this is the straight path. And let not the devil divert you from it; indeed, he is a manifest enemy to you. When Isa brought the proofs, he said, "I have come to you with wisdom and to make clear to you some of that over which you disagree. Fear Allah and obey me. Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord; so worship Him. This is the straight path." But they divided among themselves and differed. Woe to the wrongdoers on the Day of Resurrection from the painful punishment! Are they waiting for the Day of Resurrection to come upon them suddenly while they are unaware? The Day when friends will be enemies to one another, except for those who fear Allah. Allah will say, "O My servants! No fear will be upon you today, nor will you grieve." Those are the ones who have believed in Our signs and submitted to Us. It will be said, "Enter Paradise, you and your spouses, in happiness." There will circulate among them platters of gold and cups, and therein is whatever the souls desire and eyes delight. And you will abide therein eternally. This is what you have been promised for what you used to do. There will be for you therein fruit in abundance, from which you will eat. Indeed, the criminals will be in the punishment of Hell, abiding therein eternally. The punishment will not be lightened for them, and they will be in despair therein. We did not wrong them, but they were the wrongdoers. And it will be said in Hell, "O Keeper! Let your Lord put an end to us." He will say, "Indeed, you will remain here." Indeed, We have brought you the truth, but most of you hate the truth. Or have they made a decision? Indeed, We are also making a decision. Or do they think that We do not hear their secrets and their private conversations? Yes, indeed; Our messengers are with them recording. Say, "If the Most Merciful had a child, I would be the first of the worshippers." Exalted is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of the Throne, above what they describe. So leave them to indulge in falsehood until they meet their Day, which they are promised. He is Allah; there is no deity except Him. To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them. So worship Him, for you are upon the truth. The knowledge of the Hour is with Him. To Him you will be returned. Those whom they invoke besides Allah do not possess the ability to intercede; except for those who bear witness to the truth and they know. And if you were to ask them who created them, they would surely say, "Allah." So how are they deluded? Allah said, "My Lord, indeed they are a disbelieving people." He said, "Pass by them and greet them with peace; soon they will come to know."
