Zuhd

Zuhd, in Sufism, means a person's reduction of passion for worldly pleasures and directing oneself solely towards the pleasure of Allah. Zuhd requires distancing oneself from worldly pleasures and leading a meaningful life. This concept allows a believer to diminish the love of the world in their heart and increase their devotion to Allah. Zuhd is generally a fundamental principle embraced by those progressing on the Sufi path. Zuhd does not merely mean renouncing wealth and possessions; it also signifies purifying oneself from the love of the world at the level of the heart and mind. In this context, zuhdi is a quest to add spiritual depth and meaning in the true sense of the word.
