Shirk
"Shirk is associating partners with Allah and taking deities other than Him."
Spiritual & Deep Meaning
According to Islam, Shirk is considered the greatest sin. According to the belief of Muslims, taking a being other than Allah as a deity is contrary to Tawhid and is therefore very dangerous. Shirk can negatively affect an individual's spiritual life and may deprive a person of paradise. From the perspective of Sufism, Shirk expresses that the love and devotion in a person's heart should be directed solely towards Allah. Sufi practitioners aim to reach a higher spiritual rank by staying away from Shirk.
