Ikhlas

Ikhlas expresses the essence of acts of worship performed with sincere and pure intention in the Sufi understanding. Acts of worship performed with ikhlas draw a person closer to Allah while leading to various spiritual states in the heart. In the Sufi tradition, the most significant effect of ikhlas is its ability to change a person's spiritual condition and bring them into harmony with their ego. Ikhlas is the act of a person distancing themselves from all worldly concerns, seeking Allah's pleasure, and turning towards Him. In this context, for the people of Sufism, ikhlas is an important concept not only in acts of worship but also in all actions related to life, and it holds a fundamental place in the stages of spiritual journeying (suluk). In its true sense, ikhlas means completely surrendering oneself to Allah and reveals the deepest secrets of Sufism.
