Asceticism
"Asceticism means withdrawing from the world and turning solely towards the Hereafter."
Spiritual & Deep Meaning
Asceticism is a concept that holds significant importance in Islamic Sufism. It expresses a way of life that acknowledges the transient nature of worldly life and that the ultimate goal is the Hereafter. Asceticism emphasizes that a person should renounce material desires, remain indifferent to worldly blessings, and orient themselves spiritually according to spiritual values. Sufi masters believe that a life of asceticism will spiritually mature a person and bring them closer to Allah. In this context, it is advised that inner peace and spiritual satisfaction should take precedence over worldly possessions and wealth. Asceticism also signifies a person's reliance solely on Allah and turning towards Him. The desire for spiritual depth and independence is a result of the understanding of asceticism.
