Zuhd
"Zuhd means to withdraw from worldly life and adopt a simple lifestyle for spiritual purification."
Spiritual & Deep Meaning
Zuhd is an attitude towards worldly life in Islam, a quest to avoid worldly excesses and draw closer to Allah. In the Sufi tradition, zuhud is a lifestyle encouraged to ensure that the hearts of believers turn towards Allah and remain indifferent to worldly possessions. Zuhd not only involves staying away from material possessions but also includes avoiding excessive attachment to worldly affairs. Imam Ghazali, while addressing the concept of zuhud, aims for the individual to discipline their ego and spiritually elevate themselves. Zuhd increases a person's love for Allah and plays an important role in their spiritual development.
