Zuhd
"Zuhd means to withdraw from the world and to direct oneself solely towards the Hereafter."
Spiritual & Deep Meaning
Zuhd is a concept that holds significant importance in Islamic Sufism. It expresses a way of life that acknowledges the temporality of worldly life and that the ultimate goal is the Hereafter. Zuhd emphasizes that a person should renounce material desires, remain indifferent to worldly blessings, and spiritually orient themselves according to spiritual values. Sufi masters believe that a zahid (ascetic) life will spiritually mature a person and bring them closer to Allah. In this context, it is advised that inner peace and spiritual fulfillment should take precedence over worldly possessions and wealth. Zuhd also signifies a person's reliance solely on Allah and their orientation towards Him. The desire for spiritual depth and spiritual independence is a result of the understanding of Zuhd.
