Zuhd

"Zuhd is the attitude of disregarding worldly possessions and interests, and progressing on the path of the Hereafter."

Spiritual & Deep Meaning

Although Zuhd can be understood as an attitude of 'mockery and disdain' towards worldly affairs, it has a deeper meaning. In Islam, Zuhd refers to the reduction of one's attachment to the material world and a greater focus on actions for the Hereafter. In Sufism, the understanding of Zuhd aims to increase love for Allah by staying away from the desires and wants of the self. Zuhd is a symbol of spiritual purification and self-discipline. True Zuhd is the ability of a person to spiritually elevate themselves and to understand that blessings are, in fact, a test.
