Muraqabah means developing an inner awareness to draw closer to Allah in Sufism and Islam. This practice helps the individual focus their heart and mind on Allah, reflecting on His greatness and power. Muraqabah is particularly regarded as a spiritual stage within the Sufi tradition and is practiced according to the guidance of spiritual mentors. During Muraqabah, individuals turn inward; they observe the desires and thoughts of their ego. One of the aims of this practice is to enable the individual to sincerely evaluate their feelings and thoughts towards Allah. Ultimately, Muraqabah allows the individual to better understand themselves and Him, contributing to their spiritual growth.
