By the dawn; by the ten nights; by the even and the odd; and by the night as it passes! Is there not in these an oath for one who has a sound heart? Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad, the people of Iram, who were endowed with lofty pillars, the likes of which had never been created in any land? And with Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley? And with Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? Who were oppressive in the lands and were causing corruption therein? Your Lord brought them to ruin. Indeed, your Lord is ever observing. When your Lord tests a servant by honoring him and bestowing favors upon him, he says, "My Lord has honored me." But when He tests him by restricting his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me." No! But you do not honor the orphan. And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor. And you consume inheritance, devouring it altogether. And you love wealth with immense passion. But when the earth has been leveled and your Lord has come, and the angels, row upon row, and Hellfire is brought forth that Day; that Day, man will remember, but how will that remembrance benefit him? He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life." That Day, no one will punish as He punishes. And no one will bind as He binds. O tranquil soul, return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him]. Enter among My righteous servants. And enter My Paradise.
