Solution to the Problem of Impatience: The Power of Being a Good Parent

Once upon a time, in the fertile lands of Anatolia, there lived a righteous man named Salih, who was the father of two children. His children, Hanife and Adem, were quite intelligent and hardworking. Salih worked in the fields every day, striving to provide for his family's sustenance. However, every evening upon returning home, he would pray and try to share a little with his children. One day, seeing her father's fatigue, Hanife decided to help him. First, she took over the household chores, and then she picked up a shovel to work in the fields. Adem, while playing outside with his friends, frequently returned home to assist his father. As Salih witnessed his children's acts of kindness, he became even happier. One evening, when he finished his work, he raised his hands in gratitude to Allah, looking at his children's faces, and said, “O my Lord, You have granted me children as a source of joy and sustenance; grant me the ability to treat them in the best manner.” A neighbor who saw this situation objected, saying, “You have become too attached to your children; you should teach them to work and worship!” Salih smiled and replied, “Before teaching them anything, I must be an example to them.” From that day on, things changed; Hanife and Adem learned to work in the fields with their family and to spend time together. This story emphasizes the importance of respect and love that children have for their parents, as well as the significance of being good examples.
