Brotherhood and Friendship
Islam encourages the establishment of a strong bond of brotherhood and friendship among believers. This bond is not limited to blood relations but is built on faith and morality. Brotherhood and friendship enable Muslims to fulfill their responsibilities towards one another and strengthen social solidarity. Our Prophet (peace be upon him) frequently emphasized the importance of brotherhood and friendship in his authentic hadiths, advising believers to approach each other with love, compassion, and respect. In Islam, brotherhood and friendship are significant elements that affect not only worldly relationships but also the happiness of the Hereafter. By strengthening these bonds, Muslims can attain happiness in both this world and the Hereafter.
لَا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لِأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ
"None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself."
True faith is measured by wanting for others what one wants for oneself in brotherhood and friendship.
الْمُسْلِمُ أَخُو الْمُسْلِمِ لَا يَظْلِمُهُ وَلَا يُسْلِمُهُ
"A Muslim is the brother of another Muslim; he does not oppress him nor does he hand him over to an enemy."
Brotherhood among Muslims means not wronging one another and not leaving each other in difficult situations.
مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي تَوَادِّهِمْ وَتَرَاحُمِهِمْ وَتَعَاطُفِهِمْ مَثَلُ الْجَسَدِ إِذَا اشْتَكَى مِنْهُ عُضْوٌ تَدَاعَى لَهُ سَائِرُ الْجَسَدِ بِالسَّهَرِ وَالْحُمَّى
"The example of the believers in their mutual love, mercy, and compassion is like that of one body; when one limb aches, the whole body responds with sleeplessness and fever."
The bond among believers should be like the organs of a body; when one suffers, the others should feel the same pain.
لَا تَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ حَتَّى تُؤْمِنُوا وَلَا تُؤْمِنُوا حَتَّى تَحَابُّوا
"You will not enter Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another."
The path to Paradise passes through a heart filled with faith and love; this is only possible through brotherhood and friendship.
مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمُ النَّاسَ لَا يَرْحَمُهُ اللَّهُ
"He who does not show mercy to people will not be shown mercy by Allah."
Mercy is the foundation of brotherhood and friendship; we must show mercy to others to attain Allah's mercy.
